Bee-girls or Potnians, after their first mother, are creatures native to the Field region in the World of Gaia. Though peaceful when left alone, they are quite defending against unwanted strangers near their meadows.

"A normally peaceful creature found in the fields and make enormous hives and live in groups centered around a queen bee. This one seems lost and without such a queen making it unpredictable. They strongly prefer nectar collected from wild flowers, which acts as a powerful aphrodisiac and greatly increasing their stamina. Their body gives off the faint, sweet scent of this nectar."

Following the mythos theme of the Fields region, the bee-girls are inspired by the ancient Aegean culture believing them to be the sacred insect that bridged the natural world to the underworld. Potnia, the Minoan-Mycenaean "Mistress", was also referred to as "The Pure Mother Bee". Her priestesses received the name of "Melissa" (bee).

A tamed bee-girl produces three Food, but does nearly consume this amount by eating two Food, leaving them somewhat unproductive (counter their nature).

There are 24 different picture variants of the encounters and off-spring.

Possible, and mythos related names to bee-girls include: "Potnia", "Melissa", "Melit", "Thriae", "Thriai", "Melaina", "Kleodora", "Corycia", "Merope", "Mok-Chi", "Ah-Muzen-Cab", "Apocrita", "Apoidea", "Poidea", "Andrenidae", "Apidae", "Colletidae", "Halictidae", "Megachilidae", "Melittidae", "Stenotritidae", "Apiforme", and "Api".
